Coaches Poll top 25: USC sinks, G5 teams rise in college football rankings for Week 8 /

As expected, there is plenty of shake-up in this week's college football rankings after a whopping eight teams that came into Saturday's games in the polls were on the losing end. That includes two in the top 10 and three in the top 15.

We saw a possible changing of the guard in the Pac-12 during that action, as Washington unleashed its frenzied passing attack in a win over Oregon that put quarterback Michael Penix in the Heisman race. And as USC collapsed on the road in a loss to rival Notre Dame that puts the Trojans' playoff chances in peril.

USC (Down 7). The Trojans were exposed at Notre Dame and have an uphill climb to get back to Pac-12 title contention.

Oregon (Down 3). The Ducks couldn't convert any of those fourth down tries and missed the tying field goal at the buzzer in a loss to Washington.

Louisville (Down 6). High off the win over the Irish two weeks ago, the Cardinals laid an egg on the road at Pittsburgh.

Schools that dropped out

No. 19 Washington State. Two straight losses for the previously high-flying Cougars, including a stunning 44-6 loss to unranked Arizona.

No. 23 Kentucky. Another L for the Wildcats, this time against division rival Missouri.
