Coaches Poll top 25: Penn State, USC sink in college football rankings for Week 9
Six more teams in the AP top 25 poll lost over the weekend, including a pair of teams in the top 10, paving the way for yet more change in the college football rankings as we move into the Week 9 schedule of games. What does that change look like in the latest polls for this week?
- Penn State failed a critical test at Ohio State after its offense slipped into neutral, showing it's not ready for primetime in the Big Ten East yet
- No. 10 ranked North Carolina dropped a shocker at home to Virginia
- Duke played close at Florida State before the Seminoles stormed back to win
- Washington's offense went missing against Arizona State
- Alabama recovered from a bad 1st half to take down Tennessee
- USC lost to Utah (again) and is likely out of the playoff

Coaches Poll biggest movers
Penn State (Down 4). The Nittany Lions dropped after a loss at Ohio State in which the offense came grinding to a halt.
Notre Dame (Up 4). Off this past week, the Irish got the advantage of other teams falling to move up in the latest rankings.
USC (Down 6). Likely out of the playoff now after a second-straight loss, again to Utah, the Trojans are slipping down the polls.
LSU (Up 4). The defending SEC West champs thrashed Army and have an open week before a titanic date at Alabama.
Missouri (Up 4). Still at No. 2 in the SEC East, the Tigers moved to 7-1 and are off this week before two statement games against Georgia and Tennessee.
