College football's best games today: Week 12 schedule, what to watch
It all goes by so fast every season, and 2023 is no exception as we move into the penultimate regular season schedule on Saturday, with just two more games to go before Championship Saturday and Selection Sunday, and with plenty to still play for as coaches are on the hot seat, conference titles are up for grabs, and playoff positions are still being fought for. What games should you watch today?
- Battle between ranked SEC East rivals with national championship implications
- ACC title hopeful goes on the road as an underdog
- Ranked Pac-12 teams meet in the desert
- Clemson has another chance at an upset
- Sunflower State rivals meet as both appear in CFP top 25 rankings
- Top 25 contenders in the Pac-12 square off, including undefeated title favorite
All times Eastern
Louisville @ Miami
Why watch? Win, and you're in. Those are the stakes for Louisville at 9-1, but the Hurricanes play tougher than their record suggests, with physical play on both lines of scrimmage and a competent rushing attack. Tyler Van Dyke returns to quarterback for Miami, and can make things very interesting here.
When: 12 p.m. on ABC
Utah @ Arizona
Why watch? Just two seasons from winning one game and a year since winning five, Arizona has already won seven games for its best record since 2017. That's thanks to three straight wins against ranked opponents and a superb passing offense working behind a strong line. This week is a challenge against Utah's equally-dominant front seven, especially as the Wildcats technically still have a chance to make the Pac-12 title game. Not much of one, sure, but there is a path of sorts.
When: 2:30 p.m. on Pac-12 Network
Prediction: Utah vs. Arizona
Georgia @ Tennessee
Why watch? To see if Georgia can pass the third and final test in this tough late-season stretch. After having narrowly defeated Missouri and housing Ole Miss, the defending national champs head to Rocky Top, where an inspired Tennessee team will look to avoid a second-straight loss and throw a giant monkey wrench into the College Football Playoff picture.
When: 3:30 p.m. on CBS
Prediction: Georgia vs. Tennessee
North Carolina @ Clemson
Why watch? North Carolina is still in the ACC title hunt, although it needs a little help to get there. Clemson is a surprise favorite here, playing with by far the superior defense and home-field advantage, but Drake Maye has the targets and the Tar Heels can lean on back Omarion Hampton to churn out yards. Clemson has 6 wins and is coming off a statement upset against Notre Dame.
When: 3:30 p.m. on ESPN
Kansas State @ Kansas
Why watch? An in-state rivalry with both teams sitting inside the top 25 rankings this week, and also with Kansas State still looking at making the Big 12 title game ahead of the finale against Iowa State next Saturday. K-State is tied for second in the conference and the Jayhawks are one game back with a chance to earn a critical head-to-head tiebreaker.
When: 7 p.m. on FS1
Washington @ Oregon State
Why watch? Washington was supposed to move up to No. 4 in the College Football Playoff rankings, at least according to our predictions. But the committee thought otherwise, and still rank this team behind Florida State despite wins over Utah and Oregon. This game could be the clincher for the Huskies, against a solid Pac-12 opponent that's 6 combined points from being undefeated. Oregon State is actually favored here, and a win would wreak some havoc on the top four and throw the Beavers into Pac-12 title contention.
When: 7:30 p.m. on ABC
Prediction: Washington vs. Oregon State
Texas @ Iowa State
Why watch? Iowa State sits in a four-way tie for second in the Big 12 with a 5-2 conference record, while Texas remains the class of the league, sitting at one loss and not just in the race for Arlington, but also the College Football Playoff. The Longhorns play tough on the defensive line, but the offense lost lead back Jonathon Brooks to an injury. Texas has lost three of the last four in Ames.
When: 8 p.m. on Fox
Prediction: Texas vs. Iowa State
