College football games on TV today: Friday night schedule for Week 5

All times Eastern

Louisville at NC State
Fri., Sept. 29 | 7 p.m. | ESPN
Line: Louisville -3.5
FPI pick: Louisville 67.8% to win

The Game: A strength-on-strength battle between a Louisville offensive attack that ranks 5th in FBS with 542 yards per game and 9th nationally in scoring with an average of 43 points each time out. It goes against an NC State defense that is especially strong on third down, allowing opponents to convert just 30 percent of the time. Both are perfect in ACC play.

10 Utah at 19 Oregon State
Fri., Sept. 29 | 9 p.m. | FS1
Line: Oregon State -4.5
FPI pick: Oregon State 58.4% to win

The Game: OSU came into last week's tilt against Wazzu as a favorite but came out with a loss and can't afford to drop to 0-2 in Pac-12 play as the team looks at possibly contending for a league title before the Pac-12 implodes next year. Damien Martinez leads a stout rushing attack that averages 225 yards per game and he leads the conference with 108 ypg. The undefeated Utes play tough run defense, ranking 3rd nationally by surrendering just 2.02 yards per carry, and boasting wins against Florida and UCLA already.

Louisiana Tech at UTEP
Fri., Sept. 29 | 9 p.m. | CBSSN
Line: Even
FPI pick: UTEP 50.1% to win

The Game: Tech comes in at 2-3 on the year and 3rd in Conference USA with a 1-0 league mark but coming off a loss at Nebraska in which it was out-rushed 312 to 46. Bulldog quarterback Hank Bachmeier is a 66% passer but also dealing with a shoulder injury. UTEP has dropped three straight and 1-4 on the year. Both these teams failed to cover a week ago and the line has moved from UTEP -1 to even since the open.

Cincinnati at BYU
Fri., Sept. 29 | 10:15 p.m. | ESPN
Line: Cincinnati -1
FPI pick: Cincinnati 57.1% to win

The Game: A pair of newcomers to the Big 12 looking to avoid falling to 0-2 in conference play in their debut seasons. BYU needs to tighten up its run defense against a Cincy ground attack led by Corey Kiner, the engine behind a backfield that averages more than 214 yards per game. BYU is 15 for 15 in the red zone this season, including 12 touchdowns from inside the 20, aided by quarterback Kedon Slovis, who ranks top 25 in total points responsible for per game.
