Per ESPN Stats & Info:

The Tigers won tonight despite trailing by 3 runs entering the 9th inning.

Entering today, the Tigers had lost 247 straight home games when trailing by 3 runs entering the 9th inning.

Their last win in such a situation came against the Athletics on June 30, 2014.

The Tigers scored one run in the eighth and three in the ninth just to force the extra frame and then won it in the 10th on a walk-off single by second-year player Spencer Torkelson.

Detroit had 15 hits in the win, which moved them to 27-37 on the year. Five players had multi-hit efforts for the Tigers, including Torkelson, who went 3-6.

As of this posting, the Tigers are now just 5.0 games back in the mediocre American League Central. Atlanta is 40-26 and 3.0 games up on the Marlins in the National League East.

The two teams play again on Tuesday at 6:40 p.m. ET as Spencer Strider goes for Atlanta and Reese Olson pitches for Detroit.

Olson is 0-1 with a 2.70 ERA in two games while Strider is one of the best pitchers in baseball at 6-2 with a 3.79 ERA.
