Miami Marlins' Luis Arraez Joining Baseball History as He Pursues .400 Batting Average
Luis Arraez of the Miami Marlins had two more hits on Wednesday night in a 6-1 win over the Kansas City Royals.
With the two hits, Arraez is now hitting .403 on the season, the best average in the majors by more than 70 points (Bo Bichette, .331).
As Arraez continues his torrid season at the plate, he's joined an elite club in baseball history.
Per Sarah Langs of MLB.com:
Luis Arraez’s .403 BA is the 7th-highest by a qualified hitter in his team’s 1st 63 games, since 1941 (based on current qualification rules)
the list
1993 Andrés Galarraga: .435
2008 Chipper Jones: .420
1997 Larry Walker: .416
1941 Ted Williams: .412

It's just unbelievable company that Arraez is keeping. We've told you recently about some of the other historic and impressive things he's accomplished this season. You can read about them here.
He's seeking to become the first major league player to hit .400 in a season since Williams did it in 1941 (.406).
Acquired by the Marlins from the Minnesota Twins this offseason, he's paid instant dividends. After sweeping Kansas City, the Marlins are now 35-28 and are in second place in the National League East behind the Braves.
Arraez is a lifetime .326 hitter who has 15 homers and 162 RBI. He won a batting title for the Twins in 2022.
The Marlins will be off on Thursday before taking on the White Sox on Friday night at 8:10 p.m. ET.
