Oakland Athletics Win on 'Reverse Boycott Night' and Make Major League History
Break up the Oakland Athletics! The A's, the worst team in baseball entering play on Tuesday night, beat the Tampa Bay Rays for the second consecutive game. It was the seventh win in a row for Oakland, who was a putrid 12-50 before this streak started. Now, they are 19-50 and working to pull ahead of the Kansas City Royals (18-49).
With the win, the A's continued to make some fun and special baseball history.
Per Sarah Langs of MLB.com:
!!!!!!
the A’s have won 7 straight, entering the streak with a .194 win pct
that’s tied for the longest win streak by a team to enter w/a sub-.200 win pct, min 25 games into season, with:
1895 Louisville Colonels (.192 at start)
1885 Detroit Wolverines (.190)

What a ride it's been for the A's over the last week and change. They scored solo runs in the seventh and eighth innings on Tampa to turn a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 win. The game-winning run was scored via a Carlos Perez groundout.
The win was extra special because it occurred on "Reverse Boycott Night." A's fans packed the ballpark to protest the ownership of John Fisher, who they accuse of sabotaging the team and its ability to stay in Oakland.
You can see what some of the energy was like in the ballpark here.
The two teams will play again on Wednesday at 9:40 p.m. ET as Tyler Glasnow pitches against Luis Medina for the A's.
Tampa is now 48-22 on the year.
