BREAKING: Los Angeles Dodgers Star Max Muncy Leaves Game with Injury /

Bad news for the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night as star infielder Max Muncy has left the game with injury.

At this point, there is no word on what the nature of the injury is, but Muncy was replaced at third base by Chris Taylor.

Losing Muncy for any amount of time would be a tough blow for the Dodgers. Muncy is out to a very productive start this season, hitting 12 home runs in his first 95 at-bats. He's hitting .232 but has added 28 RBI and a 1.009 OPS.

Muncy is in his sixth year with the Dodgers after spending the first two years of his career with the Oakland Athletics. He's become an integral part of the Dodgers culture, helping them win the World Series in 2020.

For his career, he's a .231 hitter with 156 home runs and 412 RBI. He was a fifth-round draft pick of the Athletics in 2012.

He's had three different 30-home run seasons (2018, 2019 and 2021) and has driven in more than 90 runs twice. He's a two-time all-star (2019 and 2021).

At the time of this posting, the Dodgers are losing to the Padres, 5-2, but the concern for Muncy is the real issue at hand.

If the Padres hold on to win, they'll move to 18-15 and to within one game of the Dodgers in the National League West.

The two teams will be featured on Sunday Night Baseball this weekend. We learned recently that Mookie Betts would be mic'd up during the broadcast.
