The Houston Astros continue to get bad news on injured starting pitchers.

Last week, the Astros found out that Luis Garcia needs Tommy John surgery and will miss the entire season.

Then, on Sunday, the team revealed that Jose Urquidy is likely out to the all-star break.

The information was relayed here by the Yahoo! Sports fantasy baseball site:

Astros general manager Dana Brown said Sunday that Urquidy (shoulder) has a chance to return from the 15-day injured list "somewhere around the All-Star break," Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Though the injury that landed Urquidy on the shelf this past Monday has been labeled as right forearm inflammation, it's apparent that he's dealing with something more significant than minor swelling. Manager Dusty Baker already noted that Urquidy won't be cleared to throw for a while, and Brown's comments suggest that the Astros are preparing for the right-hander to miss at least two months due to the injury... With Luis Garcia (elbow) scheduled to undergo Tommy John surgery in the near future, both J.P. France and Brandon Bielak should have long leashes for spots in the Houston rotation until Lance McCullers (elbow) is cleared to return from the 15-day IL, possibly in late May or early June.

While Urquidy doesn't have great numbers this year (1-2, 5.20 ERA) and doesn't possess the raw stuff of Framber Valdez, he has been a valued member of the Astros staff for years.

He made his debut in 2019 and owns a lifetime 25-15 record and a career 3.85 ERA.

The Astros won the World Series in 2022 by beating the Phillies in six games. In that World Series, he threw three innings and surrendered no runs.

He also pitched for Team Mexico in the World Baseball Classic this year, helping Mexico advance to the Final Four with the United States, Japan and Cuba.

The Astros will take on the Angels tonight in Anaheim. First pitch is 9:38 p.m. ET.

The Astros enter that matchup at 17-17 after losing two of three to the Mariners.
