Milwaukee Brewers to Welcome Back Another Injured Pitcher This Week
As the Milwaukee Brewers work Brandon Woodruff back into the fold following a months-long injury, the team is also set to get back veteran lefty Made Miley, helping the rotation for the stretch run.
The following update comes from the Rotowire fantasy baseball portal:
The Brewers will reinstate Miley (elbow) from the 15-day injured list and have him start Wednesday in Washington, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Miley will be making his return from the IL two days after the minimum 15 days, taking the rotation spot of Julio Teheran (hip), who was placed on the IL on Sunday. After receiving a platelet-rich plasma injection to treat bone spurs in his elbow, Miley made a speedy recovery and didn't require a minor-league rehab assignment. The Brewers could still elect to be somewhat conservative with Miley's workload Wednesday, but he'll nonetheless have a good chance at covering the five innings necessary to qualify for a win.
Just having Miley back will add stability and depth to a Brewers team that is looking to win the National League Central.
They enter play on Sunday at 0.5 games ahead of the Cincinnati Reds.
Miley has a 3.06 ERA but unfortunately has been on the injured list twice this season.
Lifetime, Miley is 105-96 with a 4.08 ERA. He's made 305 career starts in 13 years with the Diamondbacks, Red Sox, Mariners, Orioles, Twins, Astros, Reds, Cubs and Brewers.
He was named an All-Star in 2012 with Arizona and has won double-digit games in five career seasons.
