The New York Yankees offense has hit the skids here in June, part of which can be attributed to the absence of Aaron Judge.

In this story:

The New York Yankees were swept this weekend in Boston against the rival Red Sox and have now lost four straight games. As a result, the Yanks are now 10.5 games out of the American League East and are only a 0.5 game up on the Blue Jays for the final wild card spot in the American League.

The biggest part of the Yankees struggles recently has been the offense, which has really struggled in the wake of the injury to slugger Aaron Judge.

Per Bryan Hoch of MLB.com:

An update on this:

The Yankees' batting average (.195) and OPS (.599) since June 4 are now both the worst in MLB.

Those numbers coincide with Judge's time on the injured list. He hurt himself on June 4 making a catch against the Dodgers and suffered a toe injury that could keep him out through the All-Star break.

The Yankees are going to need someone to step up in his absence. In the nightcap of Sunday's doubleheader with the Red Sox, only one Yankees regular (Anthony Rizzo) was hitting above .260 for the season (.262).

The Yankees return home on Tuesday to start a series with the Seattle Mariners. While the Yankees took two of three from the Mariners in Seattle this season, that was with Judge. The Yankees will see good starting pitching from Seattle, so it shouldn't get any easier. George Kirby, Luis Castillo and rookie Bryan Woo will provide a formidable test for the Yankees bats.

First pitch Tuesday is slated for 7:05 p.m. ET.
