Atlanta Braves Putting Up Absurd Stats on Offense
The Atlanta Braves are leading the National League East at 32-21 -- and they are leading baseball in several impressive offensive statistics, as well.
First, from ESPN Stats & Info on Twitter:
Braves have 19 HR of 440 feet or farther, 8 more than the next closest team.
On a similar note, with regards to home run prowess, we just wrote recently about Braves slugger Austin Riley and his big-fly ability...
Next, from Sarah Langs of MLB.com:
the Braves’ 17 first-inning HR are tied for the most by any team in ANY inning this year (Yankees, 5th inning)
the Braves’ 51 first-inning runs are the most by any team in ANY inning this year
the Braves’ 77 first-inning hits are the most by any team in ANY inning this year
I mean, what more can you really say about that? They hit for power, they score early and they constantly put pressure on the opposition. That's a manager's dream, right there.
The Braves are good at most spots in the order, making them an even tougher matchup for opposing pitching staffs. Hitting at the top of the order, Ronald Acuna Jr. is hitting .333 (fourth in baseball) and the team has four players inside the top-20 in home runs this year (Acuna, Marcell Ozuna, Matt Olson and Sean Murphy).
Orlando Arcia, Travis D'Arnaud and Riley also each provide their unique benefits at the plate. Ozzie Albies is also having a renaissance at the plate this year with 10 homers.
The Braves will take on the woeful Oakland Athletics on Monday at 8:07 p.m. ET.
