Baltimore Orioles' Anthony Santander Robs Home Run vs. Seattle Mariners
One day after Seattle Mariners star Julio Rodriguez brought back a home run against the Baltimore Orioles, O's outfielder Anthony Santander returned the favor, bringing back a Rodriguez would-be homer in the first inning on Sunday.
You can see the highlight here:
It's ironic because Santander was actually lifted from the Orioles win on Saturday for defensive purposes... that seemed like pretty good defensive ability!
In addition to the stellar play defensively, Santander has had quite a series offensively. He hit a home run in the O's loss on Friday, and then went 4-4 with a homer on Saturday.
For the season, he's hitting .271 with 13 homers and 45 RBI. Lifetime, he's a .249 hitter with 96 homers and 283 RBI. He hit a career-high 33 homers in 2022 and is on-pace for another 30-home run season this year.
He's an integral part of a really well-rounded O's lineup. Baltimore entered play on Sunday at 46-29 which is the third-most wins in the American League. The O's entered Sunday 4.5 games back of the Tampa Bay Rays in the American League East but also as the owners of the top wild card spot.
At the time of this posting, the Orioles trail the Mariners, 2-0, in the bottom of the third inning. Cal Raleigh has hit a two-run homer for Seattle. Baltimore will be back in action on Monday night against the red-hot Cincinnati Reds.
First pitch of that game will be 7:05 p.m. ET as Brandon Williamson (Cincy) pitches against Cole Irvin.
