The ballot for 2024 was revealed in November, with 12 players making their debut and 14 others rolling over from 2023. The Contemporary Era Committee voted Pittsburgh Pirates, Colorado Rockies, Florida Marlins and Detroit Tigers manager Jim Leyland in last December, so he will be joining whoever else makes the cut in Cooperstown on July 21.
Baseball Hall of Fame Vote Tracker has been keeping up with every ballot that has been made public thus far, so we have been able to cobble together some expectations for who might hear their names called Tuesday. Players need to appear on at least 75% of ballot to make the Hall of Fame and at least 5% to remain on the ballot for 2025.
With 213 ballots known – 55.5% of the expected total – here is how the voting stands:
3B Adrián Beltré: 99.1% (1st Year)
C Joe Mauer: 83.6% (1st Year)
1B Todd Helton: 82.6% (6th Year)
CL Billy Wagner: 78.4% (9th Year)
OF Gary Sheffield: 74.2% (10th Year)*
OF Andruw Jones: 70.0% (7th Year)
OF Carlos Beltrán: 66.2% (2nd Year)
2B Chase Utley: 39.9% (1st Year)
SS/3B Álex Rodríguez: 38.5% (3rd Year)
OF Manny Ramírez: 34.7% (8th Year)
OF Bobby Abreu: 17.8% (5th Year)
SP Andy Pettitte: 15.5% (6th Year)
SS Jimmy Rollins: 15.0% (3rd Year)
SS Omar Vizquel: 11.3% (7th Year)
SP Mark Buehrle: 7.5% (4th Year)
CL Francisco Rodríguez: 6.6% (2nd Year)
3B David Wright: 6.1% (1st Year)
OF Torii Hunter: 4.7% (4th Year)
OF José Bautista: 1.4% (1st Year)
C/1B Victor Martínez: 0.9% (1st Year)
OF Matt Holliday: 0.9% (1st Year)
SP Bartolo Colón: 0.5% (1st Year)
SP James Shields: 0.0% (1st Year)
SS José Reyes: 0.0% (1st Year)
2B Brandon Phillips: 0.0% (1st Year)
1B Adrián González: 0.0% (1st Year)
*If Sheffield doesn't make it this year – his 10th time being up for induction – he will fall off the ballot. He will have to wait for the Contemporary Era Committee to reconvene in December 2025 for another shot at making it into the Hall.
Utley, Rodriguez, Ramirez, Abreu, Pettitte, Rollins and Vizquel have been mathematically eliminated from reaching 75% this year, but they are also safe from the 5% cutoff mark. Everyone else is either fighting to earn a spot this year or survive another cycle and give themselves a chance on future ballots.
