Bobby Witt Jr. Surprises Young Fan Who Went Viral After His Grand Slam
Recently, a young Kansas City Royals fan went viral for her reaction to seeing Bobby Witt Jr. hit a walk-off grand slam against the Minnesota Twins.
Now, Witt Jr. has surprised the fan with some gifts - and some more memories.
The team put the video out on social media of Witt Jr. talking to young Rae. He gifted her with some signed baseball cards since she is a card collector.
Rae and her family live in Atlanta so the Royals said they will look forward to seeing her in person next year when the team visits the Braves.
The home run by Witt - and subsequent reaction - are some of the best moments of a rather dreary Royals season.
Kansas City enters play on Wednesday at 37-78 on the season and in last place in the American League Central. They have the second-worst record in baseball and are nearly a decade removed from winning the World Series back in 2015.
Witt Jr. is a very pleasant part of the Royals season though, and he is the key to the Royals future. He's hitting .268 this year with 20 homers and 68 RBI. He's also stolen 34 bases and has posted a .784 OPS.
The Royals are taking on the Red Sox on Wednesday night. First pitch from Fenway Park is set for 7:10 p.m. ET as Jordan Lyles pitches against Nick Pivetta.
Lyles is 3-12 with a 6.24 ERA while Pivetta is 7-6 with a 4.19 ERA.
The two teams wrap up the series on Thursday.
