Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds Game Wednesday Postponed to September 1
Wednesday's game between the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds at the Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio has been postponed to September 1, due to inclement weather, the Cubs announced on Twitter Wednesday afternoon.
The Cubs and Reds will play a doubleheader Friday, September 1 in Cincinnati, part of a four-game weekend series to open the final month of the regular season.
The Reds took game one on Monday, defeating the Cubs 7-6. Tuesday, the Cubs walloped the Reds, picking up a 12-5 victory and evening the series at one game a piece.
Marcus Stroman and Hunter Greene were slated to pitch Wednesday. Both pitchers threw on Opening Day, and will likely pitch in their clubs' next game, allowing each pitcher in their respective pitching rotations to receive an extra day of rest.
The Reds, now 3-2, will travel to Philadelphia for a three-game series with the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park, beginning Thursday. Friday will be an off-day for the Reds and Phillies, before the action resumes on Saturday. The Phillies are off to a slow start, entering play Wednesday at 1-4.
The Cubs will have an off-day Thursday, then play host to the Texas Rangers at Wrigley Field this weekend.
