Cubs, Giants, Mets, Dodgers Take a Look at Former AL Reliever of the Year
2016 American League Reliever of the Year and saves leader Zack Britton threw in front of scouts in Florida Wednesday.
The Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Angels, San Francisco Giants, New York Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers and Texas Rangers all watched Britton during his throwing session, The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal reports.
As a member of the Baltimore Orioles in 2016, Britton put together one of the greatest single seasons any relief pitcher has ever had, posting a 0.54 ERA, 0.84 WHIP, 803 ERA+, 2-1 record and 47 saves over 67 innings pitched in 69 games. Britton allowed just four earned runs in his 69 appearances.
The New York Yankees acquired Britton from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for Dillon Tate, Cody Carroll and Josh Rogers in July 2018. Britton pitched for the Yankees from 2018 on, but underwent Tommy John surgery in September 2021, and did not pitch in 2022.
Britton, 35, has a career 3.13 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 250 saves.
