Cubs: Wrigley Field Unveils New Ballpark Food for 2023 MLB Season
Wrigley Field is rolling out four new food items for the 2023 Major League Baseball season, courtesy of Levy Restaurants.
Items being introduced to the Wrigley Field menu include 'Loaded Greek Fries', 'Crispy Chicken Bao Bun', 'Crispy Chicken Torta' and 'Quesabirria'. The items hope to improve the Chicago Cubs' concessions options in 2023.
While I have not gotten a chance to try these food items yet, I'll do my best to preview them. Here it goes:
The first item is the Loaded Greek Fries. The item contains juicy gyro meat, feta cheese, kalamata olives, tomatoes, red onions, pepperoncini peppers, loaded onto a bed of crispy French fries and topped with rich feta cream sauce.
By the looks of the picture, this appears to be a serious upgrade from the fries that were served at Wrigley last season, which left more to be desired. Actually, I was underwhelmed by the food I had at Wrigley in 2022, so this appears to be a step in the right direction. Loaded fries are always a great choice at the ballpark. I don't think I've seen loaded Greek fries at a baseball game before, this has the opportunity to stand alone on its own as a house special at the Friendly Confines.
On deck, we have the Crispy Chicken Bao Bun. This item is a crispy chicken thigh, baby arugula, fresh cucumber and carrot, drizzled with Thai chili sauce and folded into a pillow-y bao bun.
Third, we have the Crispy Chicken Torta, described as a crispy chicken patty, mayo ancho cabbage, and cotija cheese, stacked onto a fresh torta roll.
Finally, we have the 'Quesabirria': Tender barbacoa, Spanish onions, Chihuahua cheese, and spicy ancho chile sauce loaded into a crispy flour tortilla.
I look forward to trying all four items over the course of the 2023 season, in my visits to Wrigley Field. Which item appeals the most to you?
