Minnesota Twins Extend Manager Rocco Baldelli

The Minnesota Twins, in first place right now in the American League Central, have picked up the options in the contract of manager Rocco Baldelli through 2025.
The Minneapolis-based SKOR North has the information on Twitter, which credits a Ken Rosenthal report.

Rosenthal adds that Baldelli also received an extension beyond 2025, but it's unknown how long that is for at this time.
Baldelli is in his fifth year as the Twins manager, posting a record of 313-281. He helped the Twins win the American League Central in both 2019 and 2020. The team is out to a 25-23 start this season through 48 games.
Minnesota certainly looks to be in it for the long haul, armed with solid pitching that consists of the historically good Sonny Gray, Pablo Lopez and Joe Ryan. The team also has a great back-end of the bullpen, anchored by hard-throwing Jhoan Duran.
The American League Central is also the weakest division in the sport, with only the Twins over .500, so the mediocrity of the rest of the division should keep the Twins with an opportunity to make the playoffs all season long.
As a player, Baldelli spent seven seasons in the major leagues. He played most prominently for the Tampa Bay Rays (six years) and spent one year with the Boston Red Sox.
He was a lifetime .278 hitter who popped 60 career home runs.
The Twins will host the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday at 7:40 p.m. ET.
Gray will be on the mound.
