Seattle Mariners Pitcher Bryce Miller Appears to Be Drawing Interest on Trade Market
Seattle Mariners right-handed pitcher Bryce Miller is drawing "steady trade interest" from other teams, MLB Network's Jon Morosi reported Thursday afternoon.
Per Morosi, the Mariners could be looking to flip Miller in an attempt to add offense in spite of payroll restrictions. However, Morosi clarified that it is difficult to see Seattle trading Miller away unless they can both acquire an impact bat in return while also replacing him in the rotation in a later move this offseason.
Morosi's latest report falls in line with information shared by Alex Speier of the Boston Globe earlier in the day. According to Speier, the Boston Red Sox approached the Mariners about their young arms, only for Seattle's front office to "rebuff" their proposals.
Miller, who just turned 25 years old in August, comfortably fits the description of the pitchers the Red Sox were after. George Kirby, Logan Gilbert and Bryan Woo also could have been on Boston's radar.
Miller made his MLB debut in 2023, finishing his rookie year 8-7 with a 4.32 ERA, 1.142 WHIP and 1.2 WAR in 25 starts. Prior to getting called up to the big leagues in May, Miller was ranked as the No. 2 prospect in the Mariners' system and the No. 88 prospect in all of baseball, according to MLB Pipeline.
Seattle selected Miller in the fourth round of the 2021 MLB Draft following his collegiate career at Texas A&M.
It remains to be seen if there is a leading suitor for Miller out there, given all the conditions the Mariners are looking to satisfy in the event of a trade.
As it stands, Seattle's rotation is made up of Gilbert, Kirby, Woo, Miller and veteran Luis Castillo.
