Seattle Mariners Players React Passionately to Team Store Story

The Seattle Mariners team store went viral on Tuesday for all the wrong reasons and Mariners players took to social media to react.

On Tuesday, I told you that the Seattle Mariners team store was "embarrassing" for putting out a full rack of Toronto Blue Jays gear in advance of this weekend's upcoming series.

Some fans with agreed with me, feeling like the Mariners are prioritizing money making opportunities over the happiness of their own fans. Some fans felt betrayed that the current organizational hierarchy would invite the rivals from the North to take over the ballpark.

Others pointed out that the Mariners are a business and they are simply taking advantage of a business opportunity.

But no matter how feel about it, this much is clear: Multiple Mariners players didn't like the optics of it all.

Mariners shortstop and emotional leader J.P. Crawford tweeted "Damn, smh" while Mariners reliever Paul Sewald said "What the hell is this? @MarinersStore"

No matter how you feel about it, it seems not great that the Mariners players are upset with how this was done.

The Mariners are 47-47 and 4.5 games back in the wild card, and they are directly chasing the Blue Jays in the race. Perhaps it's not a great idea to give the idea that you are welcoming in one of your biggest rivals at a time when your players need to beat them.

For what it's worth, the M's store seems to have heeded the words of the angry section of the fanbase, and removed the display.

The Mariners will take on the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday night at 9:40 p.m. ET as they look to get back above .500.
