The Chicago Cubs will play the Texas Rangers at 3:05 p.m. ET Tuesday at the Rangers' spring training home, Surprise Stadium, in Surprise, Arizona.

Cubs manager David Ross will give the ball to Adrian Sampson, who, at the age of 30 experienced a breakout season in 2022. Sampson, a journeyman, signed a minor league deal with the Cubs and ended up emerging as one of the team's most reliable pitchers in the second half of the season, posting a 3.11 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 132 ERA+ over 104.1 innings pitched in his 19 starts.
