The Chicago Cubs will play the Colorado Rockies Sunday at 3:10 p.m. ET at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Drew Smyly will make his second appearance of the spring, starting for the Cubs Sunday. Smyly appears to be a lock for the club's pitching rotation come Opening Day. The Cubs' rotation is expected to also feature starting pitchers Marcus Stroman, Jameson Taillon and Justin Steele. The fifth spot in the rotation appears to be up for grabs, with Hayden Wesneski, Javier Assad and Adrian Sampson in the running.

Austin Gomber will start for the Rockies Sunday. Gomber was a part of the return the Rockies received in the Nolan Arenado trade two years ago. Gomber has yet to break out as a member of the Rockies, posting a 5.56 ERA, 5-7 record and 1.37 WHIP in 17 starts and 16 relief appearances over 124.2 innings pitched in 2022.
