Starting Lineups, Pitchers for Houston Astros vs. Pittsburgh Pirates Game Monday
The Houston Astros will open a three-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates Monday evening at 6:35 p.m. ET at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The Astros are off to a slow start, entering play Monday at 4-6. Manager Dusty Baker will give the ball to his ace Framber Valdez (0-1, 1.50 ERA), as the club attempts to get back on track and soon get back above .500.
Roansy Contreras (1-0, 1.59 ERA) will take the mound for the Pirates. Rodolfo Castro will start at shortstop for the Pirates, one day after Oneil Cruz went down with an ankle injury. Cruz sustained a fractured fibula Sunday when he collided with Chicago White Sox catcher Seby Zavala at home plate. The Pirates announced Monday that Cruz will likely miss four months, meaning that he probably won't play until August at the earliest. It appears Castro is next in line to play short in Cruz's absence.
