Team USA Announces Starting Lineup for WBC Quarterfinal vs. Venezuela Saturday

Team USA will play Venezuela Saturday night in Miami at 7:00 p.m. ET, with a trip to the World Baseball Classic semifinals on the line. Here's a look at Team USA and Team Venezuela's starting lineups and starting pitchers for Saturday's WBC game at loanDepot Park.

Team USA manager will turn to Chicago White Sox veteran pitcher Lance Lynn with USA's tournament lives on the line.

Martin Perez will take the mound for Venezuela.

At age 31, Perez experienced a career year in 2022, logging a 12-8 record and 2.89 ERA over 196.1 innings pitched and 32 starts. Perez received his first trip to the All-Star Game in 2022.

Perez will be a part of an entirely made-over Texas Rangers pitching staff in 2023. Perez accepted a qualifying offer to return to the Rangers for 2023. In addition to retaining Perez, the club added Jacob deGrom, Andrew Heaney and Jake Odorizzi, to bolster its pitching rotation. The club signed Jon Gray as a free agent a year earlier.

Just five teams remain in the World Baseball Classic. Team Japan will play Team Mexico in the semifinals, while Cuba awaits the winner of the Team USA-Team Venezuela clash Saturday night. The tournament's championship game will take place Tuesday night in Miami, before players return to their Major League club for the final week of spring training.
