Texas Rangers Savagely Troll Houston Astros in Social Media Post
The Texas Rangers clinched a trip to the World Series this week by beating the Houston Astros in seven games in the ALCS.
It's the first berth in the World Series for the Rangers since 2011. They'll meet the Arizona Diamondbacks, who disposed of the Philadelphia Phillies in seven games in the NLCS. That series begins in Texas on Friday.
The Rangers and Astros continued to become quite the rivalry in the ALCS. Already divisional foes, there was no love lost after Adolis Garcia was hit by a pitch in Game 5 by Bryan Abreu. This caused benches to clear and Abreu to be suspended for two games in 2024.
As a result of the rivalry, the Astros took some shots at Garcia through their "X" account in Game 6. The Rangers responded in kind in Game 7, sending out: "The kid is cold blooded" with regards to rookie Evan Carter after he delivered a bases-loaded double that expanded the lead.
That's clearly a reference to Astros' Game 7 starter Cristian Javier, who is nicknamed "El Reptil" because of his own cold-blooded nature on the mound.
The Rangers chased Javier after just 0.1 innings. He allowed four hits and three earned runs in that time. He came into that performance with a .071 batting average against in the playoffs.
The Astros beat the Rangers 9-4 in the season series but Texas clearly got the better of them when it counted here in October.
It should make for quite the theatre in 2024 as well.
