In this story:

On Wednesday, we heard that Milwaukee Brewers manager Craig Counsell had been granted permission to interview for the managerial opening with the New York Mets.

Now, we're also hearing that the Cleveland Guardians wish to speak with him.

Per Will Sammon of 'The Athletic:'

Multiple league sources linked Counsell to the Cleveland Guardians’ manager opening as a candidate. The Guardians have asked permission to speak with him, league sources said. And people within the industry insisted that Cleveland, another small-market team that operates much like Milwaukee, could make a serious financial pitch to Counsell; previously, Terry Francona was among the highest-paid managers.

Counsell is under contract with the Brewers through the end of the month, so until then, they have to grant permission for interviews to take place. It's unclear at this time whether or not they've done this for Cleveland.

The Mets opening was always one that made sense for Counsell, given that former Brewers executive David Stearns is now running the show there.

There is still a chance that Counsell could return to Milwaukee also, per reports. He is a Wisconsin native.

Counsell has managed the Brewers since 2015 and has been to the playoffs five times.

A former player, Counsell spent parts of 16 years in the big leagues with the Rockies, Marlins, Dodgers, Diamondbacks and Brewers. He won the World Series in 1997 with the Marlins and in 2001 with the D'Backs.

He was a lifetime .255 hitter.

Once the World Series starts, you likely won't see hires made, so it seems fair to expect we won't know anything on Counsell's future for at least a week.
