WATCH: Atlanta Braves' Sean Murphy Hits Walk-off Home Run vs. Cincinatti Reds
Atlanta Braves catcher Sean Murphy connected on his first home run as a Brave on Monday night, hitting a walk-off homer in extra innings against the Cincinnati Reds.
The win snapped the Braves three-game losing streak and moved them to 7-4 on the season, while the Red fell to 4-5.
Murphy took a pitch on the inside part of the plate out to dead center off of Derek Law, scoring the automatic runner as well.
He went 3-5 on the day with three RBI and a run scored. He was hitting in the three spot in the lineup and started at catcher with Travis D'Arnaud on the seven-day concussion injury list.
This was undoubtedly the best game of Murphy's young Braves tenure. He's now hitting .240 on the season with a homer and five RBI through 25 at-bats.
Acquired from the Athletics this offseason, Murphy is a lifetime .236 career hitter with 47 homers. His acquisition marked the second straight year that the A's had completed a blockbuster trade with Oakland, as they got Matt Olson before the 2022 season.
The win was a good one for Atlanta, as they just lost three straight games to the Padres, and are dealing with a slew of injuries, including to pitchers Max Fried, Ian Anderson and Raisel Iglesias, as well as D'Arnaud.
The Braves and Reds will play each other again on Tuesday with the first pitch scheduled for 7:20 p.m. ET.
The Braves have not named a starting pitcher yet while the Reds will go with Luis Cessa.
