Center fielder Cody Bellinger launched his first home run at Wrigley Field as a member of the Chicago Cubs into the right field bleachers in the ninth inning of Wednesday's 5-2 loss to the Seattle Mariners in Chicago, Illinois.

After playing the first six years of his Major League career for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Bellinger signed a one-year contract with the Chicago Cubs in December. The deal includes a mutual option for 2024.

Through his first 11 games with his new club, Bellinger is off to a slow start, slashing .238/.298/.703. He's hoping to recapture the magic of his 2019 season, when he slashed .305/.406/1.035, while blasting 47 home runs and driving in 115 RBI. That season, he was named the National League MVP.

In the three seasons since, Bellinger slashed .203/.272/.648 with 41 total home runs 134 total RBI.

The Cubs may have lost Wednesday's game, but they took home a series win, picking up two of three games against the Mariners.

The Cubs (6-5) are currently in third place in the National League Central, trailing the Pittsburgh Pirates (7-5) and Milwaukee Brewers (8-3). The Brewers hold a two-game lead over the Cubs.
