Colorado Rockies outfielder Kris Bryant hit his first home run at Coors Field as a member of the team Monday night off Pittsburgh Pirates veteran pitcher Rich Hill, in the bottom of the third inning.

It wasn't the first time that a ball off of Bryant's bat had left the ballpark, as Bryant had homered at Coors Field as a member of the Chicago Cubs, where he played the first six and a half years of his Major League career. However, it was the first time Bryant had hit a homer in his new home stadium since signing with the Colorado Rockies in 2022.

Bryant's first season in Colorado was hampered by injuries, as he played just 42 total games. In those 42 games, Bryant homered five times. Each long ball was hit on the road.

Bryant is off to a strong start with the Rockies this season. Through 63 at bats, the outfielder is batting .317 with an .844 OPS. Bryant's home run Monday night was his second of the young season.

Bryant signed a seven-year, $182 million contract with the Rockies, following the 2021 Major League season. Bryant began the 2021 season with the Cubs, but was traded to the San Francisco Giants in exchange for prospects Alexander Canario and Caleb Kilian moments before the trade deadline.

The Rockies came close to drafting Bryant in 2013, when Dan O'Dowd was still the club's general manager. The Rockies had the third overall pick in the 2013 Major League Baseball Draft. The Cubs selected Bryant with the second pick, keeping him from falling to Colorado. Ten years later, Bryant hit his first home run at Coors Field while wearing purple, as if it were meant to be.
