WATCH: Fan Tackles Colorado Rockies Mascot Dinger, Police Investigate
Police are searching for a man who tackled the Colorado Rockies mascot Dinger during a game earlier this week. The man could be facing assault charges, TMZ reports.
Dinger, the Rockies' purple triceratops mascot was dancing on top of the dugout during the club's game Monday against the St. Louis Cardinals. His dance moves were interrupted when a crazed fan jumped atop the dugout and decked Dinger, a video on Twitter shows.
No arrests have been made, but the Denver Police have opened an investigation into the incident.
"We are working with our partners at the Colorado Rockies to identify the suspect," a DPD spokesperson told TMZ Thursday morning.
The Rockies have yet to comment on the incident, and it is not yet known if the person inside of the mascot suit was injured.
The Rockies would go on to win Monday's game 7-4, but drop two of the series' three games to the Cardinals. The Rockies enter Thursday in last place in a tight National League West division, with a 5-8 record. The Rockies are three games back of the division-leading Arizona Diamondbacks.
