WATCH: Philadelphia Phillies Introduce New Team Dog, Major!
After the Toronto Blue Jays posted the best thing on the internet on Tuesday night, the Philadelphia Phillies appear to have taken the cake on Wednesday.
The Phillies posted a video on Twitter, introducing the world to their new team puppy, named Major! Major is training to be a service dog who will be paired with a veteran.
You can watch the video below and learn all about Major's first day, which included a press conference and a contract signing with his pawprint. He also got to see his locker, which had a Phillies leash and bandana, and he got to go play out in the bullpen with some Phillies toys.
Major certainly seems like a good pup, and that seems like an appropriate name, assuming he's named for the "major" leagues.
The Phillies account also posted several pictures of Major meeting his new Phillies friends, including Phillies stars Bryce Harper, JT Realmuto, Brandon Marsh and Kyle Schwarber.
This is the kind of wholesome content the internet needs more of. It sounds like, based on the video, that Major will train for two years before being paired with a veteran. Here's hoping Major is a good boy all the way through and gets paired with a veteran who will love him, and they'll have a very happy and loving relationship together!
On the field, Major's first day isn't going as well, as the Phillies are currently losing 5-4 to the Seattle Mariners.
Maybe he'll ignite a comeback rally in the late innings!
