WATCH: Pittsburgh Pirates' Jack Suwinski Has Homered in 3 Straight At Bats
Pittsburgh Pirates center fielder Jack Suwinski continues to swing a hot stick.
Tuesday night at Coors Field, the 24-year-old clubbed his second home run of the evening to put the Pirates up 4-3 over the Colorado Rockies in the top of the fourth inning. Suwinski has now homered in his last three at bats.
With a runner on third base, Suwinski took Rockies starting pitcher Jose Urena deep to right field. Suwinski hit a solo home run in the second inning.
The Rockies took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but the Pirates came roaring back, thanks in part to Suwinski's contributions at the plate. Later in the fourth inning, Tucupita Marcano scored on a wild pitch, shortly after he slapped his first triple of the season, making it 5-3 Pirates.
Pittsburgh has found success early in the 2023 season. The club entered Tuesday tied for second place in the National League Central division with a 10-7 record. The Pirates are tied with the Chicago Cubs, with each team two games back of the division-leading Milwaukee Brewers.
The Pirates lost 100 games in 2022 and 101 games in 2021. The club was not projected to finish near the top of the division coming into the season, but has been a pleasant surprise through the season's first two and a half weeks. Even after losing shortstop Oneil Cruz for four months, the Pirates showed resiliency. The club hasn't faded yet, and hopes to continue to stay on the pace its at currently.
