Jake Paul is gearing up for his comeback in the boxing ring on December 15 in Orlando, Florida. Given his history of high-profile bouts against celebrity fighters, the identity of his latest opponent has taken everyone by surprise.

Who is Andre August?

Paul will fight Andre August, an American pro boxer and rank #322 cruiserweight according to BoxRec, Paul is #199. August is 5'10", which is three inches shorter than Paul's billed height. August has been a professional since 2013 and has fought primarily out of Texas, competing as high as light heavyweight.

What is Andre August's Record?

August has a record of 10-1-1, with five knockout victories and one knockout loss. The collective record of August's opponents is 34-65-6, whilst Paul's is 14-8-0 (4-8-0 without Tommy Fury).

August's record doesn't include any notable opponents, and Paul will be his first-ever eight round fight.

Why Andre August?

In a press release from 'Most Valuable Promotions' (MVP), Paul explained that he wants to be a world champion and August is the next logical step in that journey:

"I need to pursue the path towards greatness against people who have been boxing their whole life," Paul remarked. "...Now it's about more than business. Now I want to build my experience in the ring against seasoned fighters."

Nakisa Bidarian, the co-founder of MVP, ranked Paul above boxing legends like Canelo Alvarez, Terence Crawford, and Gervonta Davis at this point in their respective careers:

"...He's [Paul] once again doing what very few of the best and biggest boxers in the world have done in their ninth professional fight --- fighting someone with a better record and experience.

"Terence Crawford fought a 9-14 opponent in his ninth fight, Canelo Alvarez fought a 0-1 opponent, and Gervonta Davis fought an opponent that had 31 losses! But Terence, Canelo and Gervonta didn't have the world watching."
