There is a key status update on a former world champion on the AEW roster.

Tony Khan has made some major waves during a big free agency time period in wrestling. The AEW founder and President secured Will Ospreay, and has likely snagged Mercedes Moné, known as Sasha Banks to WWE fans, and longtime NJPW star Kazuchika Okada.

When it comes to the reported signing of Moné, it comes at a crucial time as one former AEW Women's World Champion might not be ready to return just yet.

Dave Meltzer spoke on the status update of Jamie Hayter during a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio. Meltzer was initially told Hayter was expected to be back in the ring in early 2024, which we're right in the thick of. Since that time, there has seemingly been no new movement on Hayter's return unless the AEW brass is doing a solid job keeping things under wraps.

Meltzer guessed that Jamie Hayter could be back "in a couple of months."

Hayter hasn't had a match since the Double Or Nothing pay-per-view event back in May 2023. Hayter had been injured prior to her battle with Toni Storm, which explains why the match had to be shortened significantly. Hayter was in the midst of a widely praised run with the AEW Women's World Championship.

We'll keep you posted on the status of Jamie Hayter once more details surface.
