The main event saw Usman Nurmagomedov defend his lightweight title in a matchup with former champion Brent Primus. The fight was the first semifinal bout of Bellator’s ongoing lightweight tournament, and Nurmagomedov comprehensively dominated Primus in order to win a clear unanimous decision.

The co-main event featured Cat Zingano challenging Cris Cyborg for the Bellator Women’s Featherweight Championship. Cyborg last defended her title when she beat Arlene Blencowe last year before she competed in a pair of boxing bouts, and in her return to MMA she stopped Zingano with strikes in the first round.
