Conor McGregor Drops Major Announcement On UFC Return Fight: "The Greatest Comeback Of All Time"
Conor McGregor has made a major announcement on his next fight.
McGregor has been out of action since July 2021 due to a fractured tibia and fibula suffered in his trilogy bout with Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. Now, "Mystic Mac" looks to be ready for a return to the Octagon.
In a video posted on his X account, Conor McGregor revealed his next fight date, who the opponent will be, the location, and even the weight class, which is sure to turn some heads within the MMA community.

Here is what the "Notorious" one had to say in his video announcement:
"Ladies and gentlemen, a happy new year to you all," McGregor said. "I'd like to announce the return date for myself, the 'Notorious' Conor McGregor. The greatest comeback of all time will take place in Las Vegas on International Fight Week on June the 29th, and the opponent, Michael Chandler, and the weight, Mr. Chandler, 185 pounds."
Before the announcement was made, UFC CEO Dana White said he had a meeting planned with McGregor in Dubai. The Irish superstar also let fans know prior that he would be making the announcement on New Year's Day, but clearly he wanted to drop the news a bit sooner.
It's good news for McGregor, his fans, and the UFC brass, as the former two-division champion had vented his frustration over the time it was taking to book his next fight.
As for the weight class, while it's a big surprise to many, perhaps it isn't to others. After all, McGregor has bulked up during his time away from fighting to the point where experts and fans don't believe he will ever return to the lightweight division.
