Conor McGregor, Dana White Reveal Timetable For Return Announcement
Dana White was back on Instagram Live from Abu Dhabi on December 27 to promote the latest episode of 'Power Slap: Road To The Title.'
In doing so, one Instagram user dropped a question about UFC 300 and when Conor McGregor would be competing.
White acknowledged it with a brief smile; the UFC CEO said he and McGregor were “talking,” but didn’t elaborate further.
Just before 4 a.m. Saturday in the U.S., McGregor, who, according to White is also in Dubai, dropped the tweet fans have been waiting for.
Conor McGregor Gives Massive Update On UFC Return
"I will be announcing my fight date and opponent on New Years Day, 2024,” McGregor tweeted.
White appeared on 'The Full Send' podcast near the end of last month, guaranteeing McGregor's next fight would "100 percent" take place in 2024.
Michael Chandler Gives Brutal Prediction on Conor McGregor Showdown
White did not comment further on who McGregor's next opponent would be but left the possibility open for Michael Chandler, who has been slated to be McGregor's return opponent since early 2023.
The pair coached TUF 31 in the spring, with Chandler's team single-handily dominating McGregor's en route to a near-clean sweep.
McGregor's most recent appearance was at UFC 264 in July 2021, marked by a gruesome leg break inflicted by Dustin Poirier which kept him out of action. Chandler's last bout was in November 2022, also resulting in a defeat to Poirier.
The news is eagerly anticipated, given that the UFC is currently in a quiet period and has already started unveiling fights for its 300th PPV card on April 13, 2024. Notable names like Aljamain Sterling and Bo Nickal have been included in the lineup.
