UFC Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones Responds To Islam Makhachev's Pound-For-Pound Tirade
UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones has offered a response to lightweight titleholder Islam Makhachev.
Recently, Makhachev, who headlines UFC 294 in a rematch with Alex Volkanovski, gave quite the head-turning quote to media members. The reigning 155-pound champion expressed his belief that Jones does not deserve to be number one on the official UFC pound-for-pound list.
Makhachev questioned "Bones'" competition over the last few years. He even bizarrely mentioned Jones' showdown with Chael Sonnen, which took place a decade ago.

Jon Jones has taken the "kill them with kindness" approach to the rant from Islam Makhachev. Here's what the heavyweight kingpin had to say on the X platform.
"I wish you all the best Habibi," Jones wrote.
Jones followed up with another post, saying he simply has bigger things going on that demand his attention.
"As far as the fight, may the best man win," Jones wrote. "I was just talking about in life. Islam made some negative comments recently. No need for me to respond with negativity. I have bigger fish to fry right now."
"Bones" then issued a challenge to anyone that thinks they deserve more recognition than he does.
"I want to encourage the young fighters to beat some of my records instead of using their lips," Jones wrote. "Now that's gangsta."
Jon Jones does indeed have something major to be concerned with. He will be putting his UFC gold at stake against Stipe Miocic in the main event of UFC 295 on November 11. Many consider Miocic to be the greatest heavyweight in UFC history.
Many are wondering if this will be the last time "Bones" will enter the Octagon. He has mentioned in the past that ending his career inside Madison Square Garden in New York City, the home of UFC 295, would be a great way to close out a stellar career. Time will tell what Jones decides to do once his next fight ends.
