Michael Chandler Reacts To Conor McGregor vs. Justin Gaethje Chatter

Chandler weighs in on the McGregor-Gaethje hoopla.

Michael Chandler has opened up about Conor McGregor stoking the flames of a possible showdown with Justin Gaethje.

Gaethje is fresh off a highlight reel knockout over Dustin Poirier in their UFC 291 rematch. The two collided inside the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah on July 29.

After a competitive and exciting opening frame, Gaethje landed a head kick in the second stanza that slept "The Diamond." With the win, Gaethje is the new symbolic BMF titleholder.

Justin Gaethje holds his BMF Championship after knocking Dustin Poirier out at UFC 291.

After the fight, McGregor had a few since-deleted tweets responding to the UFC 291 main event. The "Notorious" one said, "F*ck Chandler," and that he'd ditch a bout with the former three-time Bellator champion in favor of fighting Gaethje.

During an episode of "After TUF," Michael Chandler responded to interest building for a clash between Conor McGregor and Justin Gaethje.

"The beautiful thing about mixed martial arts is it's the, 'What have you done for me lately,' business and everyone has a short term memory, and we all can succumb to recency bias," Chandler said. "So, everyone's like, 'Man, we just saw Justin Gaethje compete, go out there and beat Dustin Poirier. Man, we wanna see him fight this guy.'

"Hey, next week there's gonna be another guy who has a great showing in any weight class, they're gonna wanna see Conor fight him 'cause Conor's gonna get his little Twitter fingers going on the weekends every single time there's a fight and insert himself into the conversation."

Chandler then revealed whether or not he is concerned about possibly missing out on a fight against "Mystic Mac."

"I'm not really that worried about it," Chandler said.
