Sean O'Malley Gets Brutally Honest On Aljamain Sterling's Chances At Featherweight

O'Malley gives his take on Aljo possibly competing at 145 pounds.

Sean O'Malley has responded to Aljamain Sterling claiming he's 99 percent sure he'll move up to featherweight following UFC 292.

O'Malley will be challenging Sterling for the UFC Bantamweight Championship this Saturday night (August 19). Sterling recently appeared on "The MMA Hour" and it was there that the "Funk Master" revealed a move to featherweight is all but confirmed.

Sterling doubled down on that idea during a recent media scrum. The UFC Bantamweight Champion said he plans to call out featherweight titleholder Alexander Volkanovski if he defeats O'Malley this weekend.

Speaking to Jimmy Smith on SiriusXM Radio, Sean O'Malley said that he isn't exactly sold on Sterling making the move up to 145 pounds.

"I don't know if I necessarily believe him that he's going up to 145 after this," O'Malley said. "I think he just likes the attention he gets from saying he's a big guy, he's going up up to 145 after this fight. So, I don't necessarily believe that."

Even if Aljamain Sterling were to make the move, the "Sugar" show doesn't see the "Funk Master" having much success.

"I don't think he does very good at 145, to be honest," O'Malley said. "I could be completely wrong. He could go up to 145 and do really well. I don't know if I see that for him, but I'll watch. I'll f****** tune in."
