Sora Rakhmonova will have a chance to join her older brother Shavkat Rakhmonov in the UFC when she fights on Dana White’s Contender Series in September.

The 25-year-old made headlines last month when she scored a violent TKO finish in the second round against Valeria Karygina, and after the win she used her time on the microphone to call for an opportunity with the UFC.

The tactic apparently worked, and now the Kazakh fighter will meet Ernesta Kareckaite on September 26 and try to earn a contract with the sport’s biggest promotion.

Rakhmonova is only five fights into her pro career but is 4-1 with three finishes, including back-to-back stoppage wins in her last two bouts to extend her current winning run to three fights. After a brief amateur career that saw her gain experience with the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) in 2019, all of her pro bouts have been with top Khazakastan-based promotion Naiza FC.

The flyweight will certainly enter her Contender Series appearance with some fairly high expectations, as her brother Shavkat is currently the UFC's #6-ranked welterweight contender.

The undefeated fighter only debuted for the promotion in 2020 but has maintained his perfect finishing record by stopping all five opponent he’s faced, and Rakhmonov is scheduled to welcome Kelvin Gastelum back to the welterweight division just over a week before his sister competes for a UFC contract.

Rakhmonova’s chances of joining the UFC are far from a sure thing considering her opponent Kareckaite holds a 4-0-1 record in MMA to go along with experience in boxing and kickboxing. The Lithuanian made short work of her first two opponents in MMA before fighting to a draw with Laetitia Blot in 2021, but she took a split decision when the pair met in a rematch earlier this year.

The women’s flyweight contest is the second fight that’s been confirmed for Dana White’s Contender Series on September 26, with Alexander Soldatkin also set to meet the undefeated Mario Piazzon in a heavyweight bout on the same card.
