UFC Contender Sean O'Malley Questions Viability Of Francis Ngannou's PFL Deal
Francis Ngannou has a new MMA home, and Sean O'Malley doesn't know if PFL can make a profit.
Earlier this week, the PFL announced it has signed Ngannou to an MMA-exclusive deal. The former UFC Heavyweight Champion has secured his spot as the Chairman of PFL Africa, and he will be allowed to box outside of the promotion. The deal also ensures that Ngannou's first opponent in the PFL will make $2 million.

During an edition of the "BrOMalley Show," O'Malley didn't seem sold on the PFL being able to find an intriguing opponent for Ngannou.
"How many guys you gonna find to fight Francis that aren't in the UFC? You might be able to find a couple guys, but are they gonna be worthy? Is it gonna be exciting? I'm not excited to go watch Francis just murder somebody," O'Malley said.
The UFC bantamweight is also unsure how long PFL can continue to pay Ngannou and his opponents, and whether or not the promotion can turn a profit off his deal.
"Longevity, like, are they profiting right now? Are they gonna be able to continue this? They're paying someone to go get beat up by Francis $2 million, plus Francis is probably more," O'Malley said. "Are they gonna profit?"
Fight fans will have to wait a while before seeing "The Predator" compete inside the PFL SmartCage. He isn't expected to have his next MMA bout until mid-2024. Ngannou will be preparing for a boxing match at some point this year. His boxing opposition has not been determined.
