UFC Legend Makes Interesting Statement On Ian Machado Garry
A renowned former UFC champion and current commentator has shared his view on Ian Machado Garry's persona.
Garry's stock is quickly soaring under the UFC banner. With a perfect record of 12-0, the 25-year-old Irishman is hoping to keep his momentum going against his most formidable opponent to date. Ian Machado Garry will share the Octagon with Neil Magny on the main card of UFC 292 in Boston, Massachusetts on August 19.
Magny wasn't the UFC's first choice for Garry at UFC 292. Geoff Neal was expected to take on Garry, but he was removed due to undisclosed medical reasons. Garry insists that he's heard different versions of why Neal pulled out of the fight. He believes Neal got rattled when he wore a T-shirt with an image of "Handz of Steel's" mugshot.
Ian Machado Garry's Critics & Conor McGregor Comparisons
There is a lot to be said about Garry already. His detractors claim "The Future" is simply trying to emulate Conor McGregor's brash attitude. UFC Hall of Famer Michael Bisping has taken to his YouTube channel to say he doesn't think the comparison is a bad thing.
"That's what you want to do," Bisping said. "You want to be known, you want to get your name out there, you want to set your stall out very, very high. Now, some people he's rubbing up the wrong way. Some people are saying he's too cocky, some people are saying he's trying to become the next Conor McGregor and all the rest of it. Why not? Why wouldn't you want to be the next Conor McGregor? I'm talking about the double-champ version in 2016, and the ridiculously loaded man that he is."
