The news that Paul was going to welcome Danis to the boxing ring for the first time was immediately met with a wave of fan speculation that “El Jefe” had no intention of actually showing up for that fight, but there are reportedly financial stipulations in the contract to make sure the bout does go ahead.
Public support from Danis' teammate Conor McGregor apparently did little to convince Misfits Boxing that the matchup would remain intact, and now Perry has been officially announced as the backup opponent for Paul.

“Platinum” debuted in the UFC in 2016 and quickly established himself as one of the most violent fighters on the promotion’s roster, although the 31-year-old admittedly gained as much attention for his outspoken and unique personality as he did for his performances in the cage.
Perry exited the UFC in 2021 following back-to-back losses, and he’s gone on to have considerable success competing in Bare Knuckle FC with his most recent victory being a second-round TKO over former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold.
The Misftis Boxing card scheduled for October 14 also features KSI taking on Tommy Fury in another exhibition bout, and although Danis seems committed to making his boxing debut there will probably be at least a few combat sports fans hoping to see “Platinum” enter the ring to face Paul.
