An unfortunate injury put a halt to one UFC Vegas 77 preliminary bout.

Istela Nunes entered the UFC Apex on July 15 with the goal of defeating Viktoriia Dudakova. What she wasn't expecting was for her arm to bend in a place it had no business being bent.

Nunes was attempting to thwart a takedown, but she fell to the mat and tried breaking her fall with her arm. Nunes' arm ended up snapping and the fight was stopped. Dudakova was awarded the first-round TKO victory. Here's a look at the gnarly injury:

Nunes was clearly in a great deal of pain, as she screamed while holding her arm. Fight fans have grown accustomed to seeing some wild injuries such as Anderson Silva's leg break back in late 2013. Still, it never gets any easier to look at without wincing.

After the unfortunate ending to the bout, Dudakova reacted to what transpired during her post-fight interview with Daniel Cormier.

"I wanted to fight. I wanted it to be a longer fight. Unfortunately, who would have thought I could break arms without even wanting to do so. I was ready one hundred percent. I really wanted to have a great scrap, but really I wanted to finish it in the first round. So, everything is God’s will."
