Confrontations are a given in the fight game, but a pair of UFC Vegas 77 competitors wanted to get the party started early.

Chelsea Chandler and Norma Dumont will collide at this Saturday night (July 15) inside the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. The featherweights had an intense staredown during their weigh-ins, and things escalated later on.

Here's a clip of the heated confrontation between Chandler and Dumont backstage (video from Alex Davis).

Chandler comes into this bout riding a five-fight winning streak. She'll be hoping to capitalize on her UFC debut back in October 2022. Chandler defeated Julija Stoliarenko via first-round TKO.

As for Dumont, she wants to extend her winning streak to three. She scored back-to-back wins over Danyelle Wolf and Karol Rosa. Dumont hasn't suffered a loss since her May 2022 bout against Macy Chiasson. Dumont lost via split decision.

One thing that both Chandler and Dumont will likely agree on is a desire to keep the women's featherweight division around. After the previous champion Amanda Nunes retired, UFC President Dana White admitted that the women's 145-pound division might be axed.

Perhaps the heat from Chandler and Dumont was an effort to provide a spark for the division. Of course, the two could've also just been peeved due to their weight cuts.
