A key on-air figure on WWE TV has reportedly suffered an injury.

The injury bug continues to bite the wrestling business. Recently, it was reported that one-half of the WWE Women's Tag Team Champions Asuka injured her knee during a recent episode of Friday Night SmackDown. The severity of her injury is unknown at this time.

Now, a new report has claimed that one important authority figure on WWE SmackDown has also been injured.

BREAKING: Massive WWE Executive Gone From The Company Prior to WrestleMania 40

PWInsider reports that SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis is hurt and he might have suffered a torn bicep.

PWInsider updated their initial report, revealing that Aldis did indeed tear his bicep. He reportedly underwent surgery and isn't expected to miss any TV appearances. That's good news for WWE given that the company wouldn't want a significant omission on its weekly shows going into WrestleMania 40.

Aldis has played a key role in the blue brand. He recently booked a Triple Threat Match for the United States Championship at WrestleMania 40. It'll be Logan Paul putting his gold on the line against Randy Orton and Kevin Owens.

Prior to the injury, Aldis had been getting into tense exchanges with Raw General Manager Adam Pearce. On WWE Raw this past Monday, Pearce was on the phone with Aldis and gave him flak for The Bloodline's appearance on the Monday night brand.

MMA Knockout wishes Nick Aldis a full and speedy recovery.
