WWE News: Huge Change In Plans Possible For Friday Night SmackDown This Week

Initial plans for this week's SmackDown show may need adjusting.

WWE officials might be forced to make a key change to its upcoming episode of Friday Night SmackDown.

This Friday's show emanates from the Delta Center in Salt Lake City. It'll be a stacked show as The Rock will be making his return along with Roman Reigns to address slapping Cody Rhodes across the face in Las Vegas and the power struggle with WWE Chief Content Officer Paul "Triple H" Levesque.

WWE United States Champion Logan Paul will also be in action. He'll face The Miz for a spot in the men's Elimination Chamber match in Perth.

With all that said. there is one crucial match planned for the show that may need to be altered.

There are two women's Elimination Chamber qualifying matches set for the February 16 episode of SmackDown. Naomi is scheduled to meet Zelina Vega, while recent NXT callup Tiffany Stratton had been expected to face Shotzi. It's likely that plans will have to change for the latter match.

A shot of WWE superstar Shotzi, who currently performs on the WWE SmackDown brand.

Shotzi appears to have suffered a knee injury during a recent taping for WWE NXT. Shotzi was facing NXT Women's Champion Lyra Valkyria. The match ended up being cut short due to the injury. Corey Brennan of Fightful reports that Shotzi was not able to put weight on the injured knee, and was said to have been in significant pain backstage.

The report also noted that this is a legit injury, not a work.

While many felt that Stratton was going to get the better of Shotzi to end the week of WWE TV, it's a big blow to the original SmackDown plans. It also hurts the depth of the women's division in the event that WWE needed to plug Shotzi in for certain situations.

The most important thing, however, is obviously Shotzi's health. We wish her a full and speedy recovery. We'll keep you posted with more updates once they become available.
