Boxing Icon Shares Interesting Reason Conor McGregor Must Fight Michael Chandler
One former world-class boxer has given his take on why Conor McGregor has to fight Michael Chandler.
McGregor's next destination is unknown in terms of Octagon action. He has not fought since suffering a broken leg in his July 2021 trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier. McGregor has been linked to a fight with Chandler given their time as coaches on season 31 of "The Ultimate Fighter," but the fight hasn't been booked.
McGregor claimed the fight was official for June 29 at middleweight, but UFC CEO Dana White shut that claim down. Now, a boxing legend in not just Great Britain, but globally has chimed in.

During an interview with Instant Casino, Ricky Hatton, who is set to be inducted into the 2024 International Boxing Hall of Fame, said that Conor McGregor needs to fight Michael Chandler to find out if he still has gas left in the tank.
“I had to find out if I still had it and I found out that I did not have it anymore," Hatton said.
"And then I went into retirement happy then, having found that out, and I hope Conor McGregor gets the same thing, I hope he wins [against Chandler] and I hope we see him in plenty more fights because he's Mr. Entertainment, isn't he?
"But if he hasn't still got it, Conor McGregor will know. Conor will know if he's still got it or not and he'll know if he needs to knock it on the head and to keep doing the other things he does.
Hatton admitted that he found himself in a similar situation going into the last fight of his career against Vyacheslav Senchenko back in November 2012. On that night, Hatton found out that it was time to walk away from pro boxing competition.
Time will tell if Conor McGregor has a similar fate.
